A person was killed Monday after he opened hearth at a U.S. Border Patrol facility in McAllen, Texas, police officers mentioned.
McAllen Police Chief Victor Rodriguez informed reporters that federal brokers responded to the capturing by returning hearth at Ryan Louis Mosqueda, 27, who died. He had an assault rifle and was carrying a utility vest, Rodriguez mentioned. Officers mentioned they discovered one other rifle and extra ammunition.
One officer was injured within the capturing, Rodriguez mentioned, noting it was not but clear whether or not a bullet or shrapnel induced the damage.
Rodriguez mentioned Mosqueda’s motive is unknown.
The capturing occurred throughout the road from McAllen Worldwide Airport, which quickly delayed all flights and closed the airport “as a consequence of off-airport security issues.” The airport reopened later Monday morning.
“We admire the neighborhood’s endurance as we prioritized security throughout the closure,” McAllen Metropolis Supervisor Isaac Tawil mentioned in a press release. “Because of the short coordination of emergency personnel and airport employees, we’re happy to welcome vacationers again with full service.”
The capturing on the Border Patrol facility alongside the border comes a few days after a police officer after was shot outdoors an Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention facility in Alvarado, Texas. A number of armed people have been taken into custody following that incident.
