A United Airways pilot declared mayday late final month after suspecting attainable engine failure after takeoff from Washington Dulles Worldwide Airport.

“Engine failure, left engine, United 108 declaring an emergency. Mayday, mayday, mayday,” the pilot mentioned to air visitors management, based on an audio recording reported by numerous media outlets.

The flight, which was headed to Munich on July 25, returned to return to Dulles “to handle a mechanical subject,” United Airways mentioned in an announcement to The Hill.

“The airplane landed safely, and all passengers deplaned usually on the gate,” the spokesperson mentioned. “The flight was subsequently canceled and we organized alternate journey preparations to take clients to their vacation spot as quickly as attainable.”

The Boeing 787 plane was carrying 219 passengers and 11 crew members.

The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority instructed The Hill that the airplane “was checked by Airports Authority Fireplace and Rescue personnel then towed to a gate” upon arrival.
