There are any variety of snarky, not-so-nice ways in which Richard Ashcroft may have responded to the viral video of a fan caught Shazam-ing “Bittersweet Symphony” in the course of the kick-off evening of Oasis‘ reunion tour final weekend. However, being the gentleman that he’s, the previous Verve frontman whose upcoming solo album is titled Lovin’ You (Oct. 3) graciously selected the trail of kindness and love in an Instagram post earlier this week.
In a video of the sold-out crowd at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales enthusiastically shouting the lyrics to the large 1997 hit together with him, Ashcroft wrote, “Day 2 due to everybody who got here down and gave such lovely assist for my set. If you happen to don’t comprehend it Shazam it, all new followers welcome! Like to LG for ‘Solid No Shadow,’ what a tune! We transfer on Manchester. Are you prepared? Music is Energy RA.”
Within the now-infamous TikTok video of Friday’s (July 4) first reunion present that has almost 640,000 likes thus far, the digital camera slowly pans to a younger girl hitting up Shazam to determine the enduring Rolling Stones-sampling, Grammy-nominated music that’s Ashcroft’s calling card and one of the beloved songs of the Britpop period. The on-screen remark learn: “did they only Shazam the nationwide anthem [crying laughing emoji].”
Ashcroft bought props from one fan for his candy response, which praised him for being a complete gent concerning the incident. “Richard Ashcroft noticed the video of the lady making an attempt to determine one of the recognizable songs on the planet–and didn’t disgrace her for it. Ashcroft will likely be again on stage together with his buddies Liam and Noel Gallagher of Oasis for the following run of their Dwell ’25 tour on Friday (July 11), once they kick off a five-night run within the siblings’ hometown of Manchester that may also have them enjoying reveals on July 12, 16, 19 and 20 at Heaton Park.
