Lovato tapped Zhone — the music maker behind “Somebody for Me” by Kylie Minogue, “Rush” by Troye Sivan, and “Joyride” by Kesha — to executive-produce the upcoming challenge.
“It’s been so inspiring working with Demi and experiencing her journey of continued leveling up,” Zhone tells Rolling Stone about their work collectively. “She is such a grasp within the studio. This album is about letting inhibitions go, and we had a lot enjoyable making this music! It actually comes throughout all through.”
Followers have already began to get a style of DL9 with teasers posted by Lovato of the album’s lead single, “Quick.” The music is a big step away from the rock-leaning power of her two final tasks, 2022’s Holy Fvck and 2023’s Revamped, which reimagined her pop hits as rock tracks.
When she introduced Revamped with Rolling Stone, she stated she was contemplating a return to pop. “I used to be listening to a bunch of steel. And now, I’m attempting to wrap my mind round extra pop-sounding stuff, simply in case my music desires to take that route,” she stated on the time.
On the brand new challenge, she’ll faucet into the sound she’s explored on a few of her chart-topping EDM collaborations, akin to 2018’s “Solo” with Clear Bandit, 2017’s “No Guarantees” with Cheat Codes, and “Instruction” from Tell Me You Love Me with Jax Jones. Her electropop goes again to 2013, when she included fan favourite “Neon Lights” on her self-titled document Demi.
