Alt-rock quartet Slightest Clue dive deep into grief, processing, and uncooked launch on their new EP, Molly, out now alongside the searing focus observe, “Cauterized.” A fusion of distorted guitars, post-punk urgency and shoegaze textures, the gathering finds the band threading themes of endings and emotional reckoning by their most cohesive, hook-driven songs up to now.
“Thematically it was impressed by [bassist/vocalist] Hannah [Kruse] and I’s mirrored experiences in closing of necessary relationships in our life and the processing of it,” says guitarist/vocalist Mac McLaren. “It comprises fictional characters we wrote about in addition to private moments that course of these emotions.”
On the forefront sits “Cauterized,” a music that embodies the EP’s spirit of wrestling with ache and in the end letting it burn by you.
“‘Cauterized’ takes from the thought of burning a wound closed as a result of that was how issues felt ultimately,” says Mac. “Severing connections leaves a scar that types you for the remainder of your life.”
