COLOMBO, Sri Lanka — A passenger bus skidded off a cliff in Sri Lanka’s tea-growing hill nation on Sunday, killing eight folks and injuring greater than 30 others.
The accident occurred within the early hours of Sunday close to the city of Kotmale, about 140 kilometers (86 miles) east of Colombo, the capital, in a mountainous space of central Sri Lanka, police stated. The motive force was injured and amongst these admitted to the hospital for therapy, police added.
The bus was operated by a state-run journey firm, police stated.
Lethal bus accidents are widespread in Sri Lanka, particularly within the mountainous areas, usually attributable to reckless driving and poorly maintained and slender roads.
