eBay is slashing the roles of 220 staff at TCGplayer’s card authentication heart in Syracuse, New York, as reported earlier by local news outlet LocalSyr. eBay will transfer the web buying and selling card market’s operations to a warehouse in Kentucky — a call TCGplayer’s union claims is eBay’s try to “evade its bargaining obligations.”

TCGplayer and eBay additionally canceled their assembly to finalize the union’s first contract simply days earlier than eBay revealed that it’s closing the Syracuse location.

The CWA has since filed another unfair labor practice cost with the Nationwide Labor Relations Board (NLRB), accusing eBay of “terminating the employment” of staff to keep away from bargaining. On Monday, the CWA claimed that eBay employed safety guards at TCGplayer’s Syracuse authentication heart which have “created an oppressive ambiance by bodily and verbally harassing staff.”

“TCGplayer is closing its Syracuse Authentication Heart to consolidate operations inside an eBay logistics heart in Kentucky,” eBay spokesperson Maddy Martinez stated in a press release to The Verge. “We acknowledge the near-term affect it should have on our staff, their households and the Syracuse neighborhood, and we’re devoted to caring for our folks throughout this transition.”
