The Los Angeles Angels are buying veteran relievers Luis Garcia and Andrew Chafin from the Washington Nationals for 2 minor leaguers, sources informed ESPN’s Jeff Passan, as they make a push to finish their decade-long postseason drought.
The Nationals obtained Triple-A left-hander Jake Eder and Double-A primary baseman Sam Brown within the deal.
The 38-year-old Garcia, a right-hander, posted a 0.90 ERA in 10 video games for the Nationals after starting the season, his thirteenth within the majors, with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Garcia recorded a 5.27 ERA in 28 video games for the Dodgers earlier than he was designated for task in late June. He signed with the Nationals on July 8.
Chafin, 35, recorded a 2.70 ERA in 26 video games for Washington. The Angels would be the left-hander’s eighth crew in 12 main league seasons.
