Titan Submersible Implosion
In June 2023, the disappearance of OceanGate’s Titan submersible, a deep-sea vessel designed to take vacationers to the crash website of the Titanic, dominated the information cycle. After a four-day search—throughout which a tally was saved of the sub’s 96-hour oxygen provide—it was decided that the seacraft had imploded on itself, killing all 5 of the passengers.
The perished vessel carried OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush, British businessman Hamish Harding, British-Pakistani businessman Shahzada Dawood and his son Suleman Dawood in addition to Titanic researcher Paul-Henri Nargeolet.
Lower than a month after the implosion, OceanGate fully shut down its operations. In Implosion: Titanic Sub Disaster, a documentary launched practically two years after the tragedy, occasions that led to the crash, together with a scarcity of consideration to security protocols by OceanGate, had been examined. Moreover, footage from what the Coast Guard believes was the second of the implosion was launched.
Within the clip, Rush’s spouse Wendy Rush—a director for the submersible tourism firm—who was monitoring the voyage from the OceanGate workplaces, seen a loud crash because the submersible was set to hit 3,300 meters beneath sea degree. Addressing her colleague Gary Foss, she stated, “What was that bang?”
